You will be part of the team delivering the Finance Advisory Network (FAN). In this role you will:
- Ensure efficient and effective communication with subscribers, research and answer technical queries, and deliver tailored training events.
- Coordinate closely with the other FAN Advisors to achieve service goals.
- Work from our London or Chester office, with the ability to work remotely or in a hybrid arrangement.
- Make a significant impact within the Public Financial Management department and contribute to CIPFA's overall goals.
Essential Experience
- Knowledge and experience, at a senior level, of local authority finance, particularly the collection fund.
- Practical experience of delivering training courses, facilitating workshops, and other public speaking.
- Track record of applying the Code of Practice in financial reporting in a local government environment.
Knowledge and Skills
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of the Code of Practice on Local Authority Accounting and its application, especially in nonâcurrent assets, government and nonâgovernment grants, reserves (including the collection fund), revenue contracts, accruals accounting, liabilities, materiality, and disclosure requirements.
- Knowledge and understanding of the funding arrangements for local authorities.
- Ability to research new developments and deliver written and live updates on key changes to a technical audience.
- Good knowledge of the budgeting processâincluding methodology, technique and practical applicationâfor both capital and revenue.
- Ability to communicate financial concepts to a nonâfinance audience including elected members and budget holders.
Qualifications
- Appropriate professional qualification.
- Degree relevant to the field or equivalent experience working in the area.
- Proactive attitude, excellent communication skills, and strong ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
