Key Responsibilities
Key tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Chasing payment of invoices via telephone, email, and letter
- Producing and issuing reminder letters when due and following up chasers as necessary
- Maintaining accurate records of debtors and all credit control activity
- Recommending improvements to internal systems where possible
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date credit control reconciliations
- Assisting in the production of monthly debtors summaries and detailed reports for budget holders
- Identifying bad and doubtful debts and making recommendations for action, including year-end provisions
- Maintaining relationships with departments and customers, highlighting payment issues, unpaid invoices, credit notes, adjustments, and other invoice-related matters
- Providing explanations to auditors regarding debt collection and outstanding debts
- Resolving queries and errors during receipt allocation
- Developing and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of CIPFA's invoicing systems
- Attending regular meetings with the Credit Control Manager
- Supporting other members of the finance team as required
- Performing all duties in a timely and efficient manner
