About the Role

As a member of the CIPFA Solutions Management Team, you will identify, secure, lead, and deliver client projects while building strong relationships with clients and responding to their changing needs. You will support the growth and delivery of CIPFA’s advisory services, with a particular focus on Financial Management within the public sector. You will also contribute to tendering, business planning, programme management, and project delivery, ensuring alignment with the wider CIPFA Solutions strategy. Working across a range of initiatives, you will help coordinate projects and workstreams, engage stakeholders, and maintain a strong focus on delivering successful outcomes for clients.

About You

You will be a CIPFA-qualified accountant (or hold an equivalent professional qualification) with significant experience in financial management, advisory services, or consultancy within the public sector. You will have a proven ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders, lead and develop teams, manage budgets and projects, and deliver high-quality outcomes. Strong analytical, communication, and influencing skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and solve complex problems. You will be proactive, collaborative, and motivated, with a flexible approach, excellent organisational skills, and a commitment to continuous learning and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Corporate and Strategic
    • Support the development and delivery of the Financial Management Advisory Services strategy and annual business plans.
    • Deliver Financial Management income targets and contribute to wider CIPFA Solutions objectives.
    • Represent CIPFA Solutions at senior leadership meetings, key account meetings, and external events.
    • Contribute to corporate initiatives, including policy, marketing, and service development.
    • Support the development of market-led advisory services and deputise for the Head of Advisory as required.
  • Operational
    • Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders across the public sector.
    • Work with public sector leaders to grow CIPFA’s profile and impact.
    • Develop and deliver integrated advisory solutions, proposals, and presentations.
    • Support the achievement of annual revenue, expenditure, and performance targets.
    • Ensure high‑quality service delivery, including reviewing and responding to client feedback.
    • Manage project delivery, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to agreed objectives.
    • Work closely with the Business Solutions Manager to maintain effective project governance and financial control.
  • Management and Leadership
    • Provide day‑to‑day leadership and management of the Financial Management team, including performance reviews, objective setting, and employee support.
    • Contribute to CIPFA’s strategic leadership as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
    • Support the recruitment, development, and retention of Advisory staff.
    • Ensure projects are delivered to a high standard and that team capability continues to develop in line with business and market needs.
