Village Vet is a well-established primary care practice group providing excellent levels of veterinary professional care across 30 practices covering London, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire. Village Vet Milton is a very busy, progressive and forward-thinking veterinary hospital. Open 24/7, 365 days of the year, we pride ourselves on both our day-to-day and emergency veterinary care.

We are currently seeking an evening Client Care Assistant to join our team. You will be front of house, welcoming clients and their pets into the branch, and your shifts will cover some of our emergency hours in the evening. The successful applicant will be working front of house in our reception areas, taking calls for our emergency service, taking payments, speaking with clients and undertaking general administrative tasks within a small friendly team of night staff.

Contract Type: Part Time

Hours: 17.5 hour per week Mon 6pm – 11pm, Tues 6pm – 11pm and alternate weekends Fri, Sat and Sun 6pm – 11pm

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage and deal with appointment bookings in a professional and efficient manner
  • Support the business with a range of administrative duties
  • Have a high level of attention to detail
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high standard of customer service and completing all tasks to a high standard
  • Show awareness of financial control within the practice
  • Be happy to discuss financial issues with clients if needed
  • Manage the practice diary to ensure all patients are booked efficiently according to the hospital conditions and urgency of the case
  • Maintain the highest professional and ethical standards
  • Ensure communication is to a high standard with referring vets and colleagues
  • Ensure that a high standard of client care is maintained at all times
  • Work closely with your vet and neighbouring branches
  • Serve customers and take payments, advising customers on products and services
  • Perform banking duties

Skills, knowledge and experience:

  • A proactive, positive attitude
  • Adapt well to learning a new system if no previous experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Highly motivated to provide excellent service to clients and the practice
  • Works well within a team and is a positive member of the team
  • Ability to work at a fast pace under pressure and manage own workload when the branch runs slower
  • Professional approach to work
  • Excellent administration, organisational and time-management skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent IT skills – Microsoft (Outlook, Word, Excel)
