About us

Village Vet St Albans, part of Linnaeus, is a well-established small animal hospital that serves as a 24‑hour emergency clinic for many practices in Hertfordshire. The hospital is well equipped with full diagnostic facilities, an on‑site laboratory, separate cat/dog wards, and a theatre suite. Our 24‑hour facilities ensure continuity of care for our patients and provide a highly stimulating and rewarding caseload.

Your role and responsibilities

We are offering the opportunity for a proactive, dedicated Night RVN to join the Vet‑24 night team at Village Vet St Albans. Rota: 4 nights on, 8 nights off rolling rota. The role is hands‑on and duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Assignment of cases to nurse and support throughout your shifts, with a proactive, holistic approach to inpatient care, under the guidance of the Veterinary Surgeon.
  • Triage out of hours calls and visits to the hospital, supporting the veterinary surgeon with appointments, treatments and procedures.
  • Be actively involved in nurse‑led patient handover from the night team to the day team, providing detailed clinical updates of any current and new inpatients.
  • Participate in the cleaning and maintenance of all areas of the hospital, alongside the day team.
  • Be active in Continued Professional Development, with the possibility of partaking in extra studies in support of the emergency and critical care lifestyle, adopted by an out of hours service.

We are recruiting for a Tier 2/3 RVN to join the night nurse team, where you will be working alongside the Veterinary Surgeon to support effective management of overnight and urgent care patients.
