Wear Referrals, part of Linnaeus and Mars Veterinary Health Europe, is a multi-disciplinary, specialist veterinary referral hospital in the North East of England. We have services in neurology, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, anaesthesia, oncology, diagnostic imaging and cardiology, as well as an out-of-hours emergency service and in-house hydrotherapy.
Wear Referrals includes more than 20 Specialists, supported by a highly skilled team of nurses, radiographers and other associates. With ongoing growth and success based on an outstanding reputation and a commitment to clinical excellence, Wear Referrals are looking to recruit a diagnostic imaging intern to work with our team of specialists.
Our hospital facilities include a dedicated ICU staffed 24 hours a day, spacious well-designed wards with many walk-in kennels, in-house 1.5T Siemens Magnetom Essenza MRI, 16 slice Siemens Somatom Emotion helical CT, digital radiography, digital fluoroscopy, a Samsung RS85 ultrasound system, and multiple other ultrasound machines.
Our diagnostic imaging team includes 3 ECVDI diplomates and 4 experienced human radiographers, who work closely with the radiologists to provide the highest quality cross-sectional imaging, as well as supporting with fluoroscopy and radiographic quality improvement.
We encourage an evidence-based multi-disciplinary approach, supporting a process of continuous learning and a collegiate atmosphere. Our clinical caseload provides an interesting variety of cases and clinical research is actively encouraged and supported.
The successful candidate will gain experience in all imaging modalities, with a focus on radiography and ultrasonography initially. The diagnostic imaging intern will be trained in advanced imaging (CT and MRI) image acquisition, and will be part of the OOH rota alongside our existing team of radiographers. The diagnostic imaging intern will also be trained to interpret and write reports across all modalities, with all reporting being under direct supervision by an ECVDI diploma holder.
Applicants must be highly motivated, proactive and passionate about delivering clinical excellence, with excellent social and clinical skills. Wear Referrals provide a competitive salary and benefits package including a generous CPD allowance and 2 weeks’ paid CPD leave, 6.6 weeks’ holiday.
