We are a long-established supplier and manufacturer of natural ingredients for the food and beverage industry. Our products support flavour, beverage and wider food applications, and we provide customers with technical expertise, manufacturing capability and distribution services across a diverse ingredient portfolio.

As our business continues to grow, we are seeking a Regulatory Affairs Specialist to join our Technical team and play a key role in ensuring compliance across our ingredient portfolio.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, The Regulatory Affairs Specialist will be responsible for ensuring our ingredients comply with UK and EU food regulations while providing practical regulatory guidance to customers and internal teams. This role combines regulatory compliance, specification management, customer support and horizon scanning to support business growth and maintain the highest standards of compliance.

Working closely with Technical, Quality, Sales, Product Development and Supply Chain teams, you will help embed regulatory excellence throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure ingredient compliance with UK and EU food legislation covering flavourings, colours, additives and general food law.
  • Interpret and apply legislation including Regulation (EC) No. 1334/2008 and relevant UK regulations.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess impacts on products, documentation and customer requirements.
  • Support regulatory strategies for existing products and new market opportunities.
  • Maintain and review product specifications, technical data sheets and compliance declarations.
  • Prepare allergen, GMO, origin and composition statements.
  • Review customer questionnaires and technical documentation.
  • Respond to regulatory queries from customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with Technical, Quality, Purchasing, Sales and Product Development teams.
  • Support customer audits and certification activities.
  • Deliver regulatory guidance and training across the business.
  • Maintain regulatory databases and document control systems.
  • Support change control, risk assessments and supplier change reviews.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance compliance and customer service.
About YouQualifications
  • Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Nutrition, Regulatory Affairs or a related scientific discipline.
  • Additional food law or regulatory affairs qualifications are advantageous.
Experience
  • Experience in a Regulatory Affairs, Technical or Compliance role within the food ingredients or flavours sector.
  • Strong knowledge of UK and EU food legislation, particularly flavourings, colours, additives, E-numbers and labelling requirements.
  • Experience managing specifications and regulatory documentation.
  • Experience supporting customer audits and technical enquiries is desirable.
