What is the job?
Do you fixate on how things work and enjoy getting cinema technology working & running smoothly to ensure an unforgettable viewing experience for customers?
You could be our new Regional Field Engineer, which will see you being out in the field, visiting sites across a region in the South of England, fixing equipment, solving technical problems and ensuring technical operations in the cinemas run smoothly.
Reporting to our Regional Technical Director Marius Eluna and collaborating with the wider Field Engineering team you will work in all the company\’s technical areas showcasing abilities to maintain, repair and calibrate the digital projection, sound and associated equipment.
What will you be doing?
- You will be supporting cinemas within the Cineworld & Picturehouse brands in the Southern region that includes Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Luton and many more across that southern belt. This includes conducting repairs of all digital cinema and associated equipment, arranging partner repairs, stock movements and refitting of repaired equipment.
- You will need to handle calibration of digital projectors and audio equipment to DCI and industry specifications. Sound pressure level, theatre equalisation, projector luminance, colour calibration and routine maintenance checks and equipment cleaning.
- You will observe and report on housekeeping standards, whilst monitoring and where necessary taking decisive action to maintain company ‘on screen’ presentation standards.
- You will strengthen operational team partnership relations, ensuring good communication and repair timelines/completion dates are observed as far as is possible which includes maintaining partner ‘SLA’ agreements and providing holiday and sickness cover for neighbouring regions.
- You will carry out routine technical tasks such as replacing parts as specified in the company\’s preventative maintenance manual, monitoring project costings and working with budgets, sourcing products, equipment & services as required.
- You will act as first point of contact for the Technical Department via phone & e-mail to support and deliver best practice procedural information to cinema management teams and helping enhance the skills of cinema-based technical staff through coaching and training, supporting company training initiatives where appropriate.
- You will be required to work a flexible shift system covering all cinema requirements in relation to technical maintenance and Audio-Visual presentations on a Regional and occasional UK wide basis.
About you
- You have demonstrable technical experience in the cinema industry with an understanding of cinema industry & DCI compliance guidelines, mixed with strong knowledge of digital projection equipment such as:NEC, Christie, Barco range of DCI compliant digital cinema projectors, Dolby/Doremi/GDC/Barco servers, RealD 3D, Cinema Sound Systems.
- You can work alone or as part of a team, generating flexible shift patterns to minimise disruption to companies scheduled film performances whilst keeping business disruption to the minimum.
- You have a full driving license.
- You can work Weekends, day/night shifts throughout the UK as scheduled and to assist the cinemas throughout the operational hours – for this role you are expected to work 1 weekend per month.
- You have a positive, reactive approach to troubleshooting /problem solving & an ability to remain diplomatic under pressure and are comfortable communicating with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- You are detail orientated and will be comfortable tracking projects, maintaining data records and monitoring stakeholder SLAs from a support perspective
