MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create photorealistic textures for digital assets using the supplied photographic reference material and/or concept artwork.
  • Work closely with Supervisors of the show to help with the overall approach to texturing.
  • Ability to receive creative feedback and translate it into more specific and technical notes for the artists.
  • Work closely with the modelling team to ensure optimized UV’s.
  • Liaise with the Look development and Lighting artists to ensure textures are optimised for render.
  • Be able to manage time and resources to meet deadlines.
  • Complete or oversee the most difficult work and complex sequences.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Strong creative skills and a thorough understanding of the techniques required to generate texture images using a combination of photographs and digital painting.
  • Thorough understanding of the texturing process and the ability to both interpret designs and manipulate photographic reference material.
  • Previous experience creating textures for photorealistic organic and hard surface digital models.
  • Advanced knowledge of Mari, a strong working knowledge of Maya and UV’s, and some knowledge of Substance Painter and Designer if possible.
  • Strong understanding of image colour space relating to texture painting.
  • Thorough understanding of the visual effects pipeline.
  • Ability to work well in a team and solve texture specific issues independently.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Previous film industry experience.
