Already the UK’s largest online used car retailer, we’re expanding our offering with an exciting roadmap of online and physical retail solutions - including faff-free car servicing at over 100 locations across the country.
The company operates vehicle preparation sites at Grimsby, Corby and Derby, where vehicles are refurbished, at scale, to the cinch standard. The Site Accountant role is responsible for the day-to-day accounting of one to two of those sites, working closely with the Finance Business Partner to ensure operational management have accurate and timely financial data to help run the site.
Responsibilities include:
- The production of site management accounts, ensuring the correct income and expenditure are recognized through deferred income, accruals and prepayments
- Day to day general ledger management ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly
- Site visits and meetings on site as required
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations and analysis, including ensuring that work performed on vehicles is appropriately allocated to their value in inventory
- Preparing for and attending stock counts, and ensuring that subsequent inventory reconciliations are of a high standard with all variances investigated
- Cost recharges reconciliations, including intercompany balances
- Variance analysis and commentary vs Forecast & budget
- Supporting the Finance Business Partner in identifying and implementing efficiency and cost opportunities
- Presenting financial reports to line management and other stakeholders on a monthly basis in collaboration with the Finance Business Partner
- Support the year-end audit process
- Support the preparation of full year budget preparation for your site
- Support with weekly and quarterly forecasting
- Support team with any ad-hoc tasks
- Work closely with site General Manager and leadership team, supporting and building relationships
Things we’d love to see:
- Appropriate accounting qualification, or significant in-house experience
- Experience of accounting and reporting for large operational sites, with volumes of high value inventory, is a preference
- Desire to improve financial and operational processes, and experience of having done so
- Well-organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
- Ability to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion whilst working under pressure to meet deadlines
- Flexible, able to work in a fast-paced environment employing pragmatism where necessary
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, in corporate and operational environments
- Articulate, persuasive, confident, possessing sound intellect; a self-starter with the ability to combine professional rigour with practical business requirements
- Ability to work independently and present findings in a concise way
- Advanced competency in software packages including Microsoft office products, experience of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or Fusion/Evo is preferred, but not essential
