We are seeking a motivated and experienced Leading Hand to manage our dedicated team of Digger and Drill specialists out at our Iron Bridge project. As the leader, you'll play a pivotal role in minimizing machine downtime, ensuring high-quality repairs, and mentoring your team to success.
In this role, you will:
- Shift Handover & Task Status: Provide clear task updates to the Field Supervisor at shift change for smooth transitions.
- Task Prioritization: Collaborate with the Field Supervisor to prioritize tasks and allocate resources effectively.
- Daily Labour Allocation: Manage daily labour assignments and ensure updates are reflected in prestart.
- Task Monitoring: Conduct regular progress checks and provide timely updates to ensure task completion.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and support team members to enhance skills and maintain productivity.
- Safety & Quality: Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping, and workmanship on-site.
- Tool & Equipment Management: Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, machinery, and parts.
About you
- Previous Leading Hand experience in a maintenance or breakdown role.
- Experience with CAT6060, Hitachi 3600 excavators, D65/MD6310 drills, or similar excavator/drill fleets.
- Strong technical knowledge of heavy mobile equipment and breakdown processes. Excellent timekeeping and ability to work autonomously.
- Ability to manage multiple breakdown events while maintaining clear communication and prioritization.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
- A proactive approach to safety, ensuring all breakdown activities are performed with minimal risk.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to coordinate teams and liaise with multiple stakeholders.
