The aim of the Surgical Glaucoma Specialist is to execute the launch of Ciliatech’s Intercil Uveal Spacer with Ophthalmologists in the field. This will entail training glaucoma surgeons and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to a very high standard in commercially inactive (new) accounts thereby maximising sales and uptake of Intercil. The role is a hybrid of sales and surgical training.
The role will be perfect for someone who is seeking to join a genuinely dynamic and growing environment where you will visibly see, and be directly responsible for our launch mission as we bring our innovative glaucoma device to global markets for the first time.
Location: Based in Southern UK, with remote work flexibility.
Mobility: A reliable car suitable for frequent business travel is required. A car allowance is provided, but you must have access to a fit‑for‑purpose vehicle at all times. Full clean driving licence is mandatory.
Travel readiness: This role involves extensive national travel within your home market, sometimes with short notice and including multiple nights staying away from home.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sales and Market Development
- Identifying high potential surgeons, accounts and geographical regions within the sales territory.
- Developing a business plan focused on achieving and exceeding predefined sales targets.
- Monitoring progress against the sales execution plan and regularly updating business plans as appropriate.
- Negotiate with key hospital accounts to achieve favourable terms for Ciliatech products.
- Identify, book, arrange and be present for key customer events such as congresses and customer meetings.
- Monitoring promotional spend against annual budgets.
- Identify and execute optimal follow‑up schedules with individual customers in order to ensure relationship maintenance, best practice sharing and sales growth within accounts.
- Potential involvement in KOL development activities as required if guided and directed by senior leadership team.
- Surgical Training
- ‘Master’ Ciliatech products – become a full expert in the concepts, clinical data, surgical technique and associated indications and conditions. This will require passing validations (exams) en‑route to reaching official ‘certification’ status as a surgical trainer.
- Become an expert on related competitor and/or alternative treatment modalities for the specific indications that our products treat.
- Take full responsibility to train surgeons and associated healthcare professionals (i.e. Operating Room staff) on the correct procedures, indications and surgical technique for safe and successful implantation of Ciliatech products into patients’ eyes.
- Additional/General
- Attend national and international congresses as directed by senior leadership team.
- Follow trends and publications in the MIGS Industry in order to maintain the most up to date competitor and disease area knowledge.
Required Skills/Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ surgical sales experience in the operating room.
- Experience in Ophthalmology.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Strong emotional intelligence and excellent communication skills.
