The aim of the Europe Medical & Scientific Affairs Manager is to support the clinical and scientific adoption of Ciliatech’s Intercil Uveal Spacer across Europe by building strong partnerships with surgeons, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and clinical stakeholders in the field. This role combines Medical Affairs, scientific engagement, clinical support, and field collaboration to ensure a high level of scientific consistency, impactful education, and successful product adoption in real-world surgical environments.

The position will play a key role in supporting podium communications, collecting field insights, supporting clinical initiatives, and strengthening the connection between clinical practice and business execution. The International Medical & Scientific Affairs Manager will work in close collaboration with the Sales and Market Development teams and will report directly into the commercial organization. Location: Germany, UK, France, with remote work flexibility

Travel readiness: This role involves extensive travel for congresses, trainings, workshops, surgeon meetings, and field support activities, sometimes with short notice and including multiple nights away from home.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Medical & Scientific Affairs
    • Planning and supporting podium communication strategies for congresses, workshops, and scientific events
    • Supporting speakers, KOLs, and clinical stakeholders in scientific and product-related presentations
    • Building and maintaining strong relationships with surgeons, healthcare professionals, and Key Opinion Leaders across Europe
    • Acting as a key scientific and clinical partner during product adoption and complex field discussions
    • Supporting Sales and Market Development teams in scientific and clinical interactions with healthcare professionals
    • Contributing to the consistency and quality of scientific and clinical messaging in collaboration with Regulatory Affairs, Clinical, and Marketing teams
    • Delivering targeted scientific and clinical training to internal teams and external stakeholders
    • Supporting trainings, wet labs, workshops, and congresses with a strong practical and clinical focus
    • Organizing and participating in scientific interactions, advisory boards, and educational initiatives
  • Clinical & Field Support
    • Collecting and structuring clinical and field insights to continuously improve product adoption, training, and market approach
    • Supporting clinical activities, studies, and field feedback collection initiatives
    • Becoming a strong expert in Ciliatech products, including concepts, clinical data, surgical techniques, indications, and patient pathways
    • Developing strong knowledge of the glaucoma environment, competitor solutions, and evolving clinical practices
    • Supporting surgeons and healthcare professionals during early adoption phases and complex discussions
  • Additional/General
    • Attending national and international congresses as directed by senior leadership
    • Following scientific publications, market trends, and developments in glaucoma and MIGS technologies
    • Ensuring all interactions remain compliant with applicable regulations, approved labeling, and internal policies

Profile

  • Required Skills/Experience
    • Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, or related field
    • Significant experience in Medical Affairs, Scientific Affairs, Clinical Affairs, or related field roles within MedTech or Pharma
    • Experience in ophthalmology, glaucoma, and/or surgical medical devices
    • Proven experience interacting with healthcare professionals and supporting clinical adoption
    • Strong emotional intelligence and excellent communication skills
    • Ability to engage and influence clinicians in real-world environments
    • Ability to translate scientific and clinical information into practical adoption and field impact
    • Hands-on, pragmatic, and solution-oriented mindset
    • Strong collaboration skills with commercial and clinical teams
    • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced and evolving environments
    • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Preferred Skills/Experience
    • MD, PharmD, or PhD
    • Experience in glaucoma and/or MIGS
    • Experience in surgical training, medical marketing, or clinical education
    • Experience supporting clinical studies or evidence-generation initiatives
    • Experience in early-stage or high-growth MedTech environments
    • Ability to structure and formalize field insights into actionable recommendations
