Hybrid/Remote working, with requirement to attend offices in Bedfordshire and other meetings as required, This role sits within our enforcement function, which is responsible for ensuring that those we regulate comply with the standards of professional behaviour set out in the CILEX Code of Conduct (the Code).
As a key member of a small team, your day-to-day role will involve assessing, investigating and progressing your own caseload of reported breaches of the Code (misconduct cases). You will also oversee and manage cases involving self-declared conduct (prior conduct cases), which form the basis of our character and suitability assessments of those seeking to join and remain in the profession to ensure the efficient, reasoned, and risk-based disposal of cases.
You will apply your technical expertise and attention to detail to interpret and apply rules; analyse substantial amounts of complex information; identify relevant lines of enquiry; investigate issues, obtaining witness statements and other evidence as needed; undertake legal research; draft legal arguments; prepare reports and hearing bundles and ensure that cases are appropriately determined under delegated powers, or by our independent disciplinary and appeals panels, for whom you will be the main point of contact.
You may be called as a witness, or be asked to represent or advocate on behalf of CILEx Regulation in disciplinary hearings. Advocacy training will be provided where required.
You will arrange panel meetings and training days, monitor and maintain databases, ensure adequate record-keeping and file maintenance, and assist in projects to develop and improve the enforcement function., * an explanation of how you meet the requirements set out int her person specification
