Headway Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a well established engineering components manufacturer that supplies high quality industrial products to customers across the UK and internationally. Following a recent acquisition by a large international group, the business has ambitious plans for growth. As part of this expansion, they are looking to appoint a proactive and commercially minded Sales Executive to strengthen the sales team and support the development of new and existing customer relationships.
This Sales Executive role offers an excellent opportunity for someone earlier in their sales career who enjoys building relationships, identifying opportunities and developing long term customer partnerships within the engineering and manufacturing sector. The Sales Executive will work closely with the Sales Manager and will play an important role in generating new business opportunities and developing a strong sales pipeline.
The Sales Executive will focus on developing new business opportunities while also re engaging lapsed and existing customers. Approximately 60% of activity will focus on warm or previously engaged customers, alongside targeted outreach to new prospects.
Key responsibilities of the Sales Executive include:
- Generating new sales opportunities through proactive outbound sales activity
- Contacting warm, lapsed and prospective customers to identify new opportunities
- Building and developing long term customer relationships
- Managing prospects through the full sales cycle from initial contact through to order
- Supporting the introduction and promotion of new products to market
- Increasing revenue and margin through effective commercial negotiation
- Developing a pipeline of new prospects and future opportunities
- Maintaining accurate records of sales activity within the CRM system
- Working closely with the Sales Manager to support sales strategy and business growth
- Identifying opportunities within emerging markets and new sectors
The Sales Executive role is primarily office based and focused on proactive sales development, although occasional customer visits may take place where appropriate.

The business supplies a wide range of industrial components and machine hardware, including mechanical parts and engineered components used across manufacturing, engineering and industrial sectors. Customers range from UK manufacturers to global engineering organisations, giving the Sales Executive exposure to a broad range of industries and technical applications.
The Person
The ideal Sales Executive will be proactive, commercially aware and motivated by building strong relationships and generating new business opportunities. This Sales Executive role would suit someone with some B2B sales experience looking to develop their career within a technical or engineering focused environment. We are particularly interested in candidates who have sold technical products, components or engineered solutions, although experience from other B2B sales sectors will also be considered.
