Woking Borough Council has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced professional to join our busy and dedicated Housing Standards Team as a Housing Standards Officer on a full time, permanent basis.

Responsibilities
  • Improve housing standards across the Borough by working pro‑actively and providing advice and guidance.
  • Undertake detailed property inspections.
  • Take appropriate enforcement action using a wide range of relevant legislation, including licensing, to reduce hazards in housing in the private sector.
  • Operate at the forefront of major sector changes, including the implementation of the Renters' Rights Bill and the introduction of Additional Licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation.
Qualifications
  • Experience in Housing Standards and knowledge of housing legislation across all areas of housing standards.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate accurately and effectively with a wide range of people.
  • A positive and confident outlook, experience of working with diverse client groups.
  • Valid full driver’s licence.
  • Ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
  • Potential to undertake a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Regulatory Compliance with a focus on Housing.
