The Homeless Prevention Outreach Manager sits within the Homeless Prevention Team, focusing on early intervention, assertive outreach, and delivering tailored support to reduce homelessness. As the Manager you will line‑manage the outreach team, lead front‑line staff delivering outreach‑led casework to Cornwall’s rough sleepers, coordinate timely interventions, and support positive housing outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of Homeless Prevention Caseworkers, ensuring compliance with legislation and internal policies.
- Take Housing Act applications from members of the public who are threatened or already homeless, carry out detailed assessments and determine the Council’s legal duties.
- Carry out and ensure compliance with statutory requirements and deliver fair, consistent decisions.
- Provide quality assurance, performance monitoring and staff well‑being through coaching, mentoring and supervision.
- Promote a positive, collaborative culture that drives continuous improvement and excellent customer service.
Qualifications & Experience
- Leadership & Team Management: Proven experience in leading, motivating and supporting a team to achieve service targets and deliver high‑quality outcomes. Ability to provide clear direction, coaching, mentoring and foster a high‑performing culture. Skilled in managing performance, ensuring compliance and promoting staff wellbeing.
- Organisational & Problem‑Solving Skills: Ability to prioritise competing demands in a fast‑paced environment. Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills with a focus on practical solutions.
- Communication & Negotiation: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to influence and build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners.
- Resource Management: Experience in allocating resources effectively.
- Flexibility & Resilience: Ability to adapt to change and respond constructively to challenges.
Working Pattern
Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Hybrid working with an expectation to attend the offices throughout Cornwall and work alongside the Homeless Prevention teams at least two days per week.
