Position Summary

This is a great opportunity to join the Housing Solutions Team at Broxbourne Council as a Trainee Housing Solutions Officer (Homelessness). The role is offered on a 12‑month fixed term contract with a starting salary of £37,017.76 p.a. You will work full time, 37 hours per week, for a temporary contract, and will be subject to a DBS check.

Responsibilities

  • Interview and assess individuals and households at risk of homelessness.
  • Manage a caseload of clients, collaborating with colleagues and external agencies to provide advice and solutions.
  • Conduct sensitive conversations with clients to set expectations and provide support.
  • Participate in a comprehensive in‑person training programme during the probationary period.
  • Adhere to the Council’s core values of Teamwork, Innovation, Effectiveness, and Respect (TIER).

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience working within a local authority or housing/homelessness setting.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Highly motivated with a genuine interest in helping people.
  • Excellent communication skills, fluent spoken English.
  • Good written and analytical skills; GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Experience in a customer‑facing role (essential).
