An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Accommodation Team within our Integrated Communities Department as a Gypsy and Traveller Housing Officer. In this rewarding role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Swindon Borough Council's permanent Gypsy and Traveller site at Hay Lane, which provides 37 residential pitches. You will develop positive working relationships with residents, promoting sustainment, supporting community wellbeing, responding to housing management issues, and working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to resolve issues and improve outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building positive relationships with residents through regular engagement, providing advice, support and signposting to other services where appropriate.
  • Liaising with internal teams and contractors to report, monitor and resolve repairs and maintenance issues.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring all casework and administrative tasks are completed in a timely and professional manner.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and partner organisations to deliver positive outcomes for residents and the wider community.
  • Taking legal action on cases where breaches of the mobile home agreement.
  • Assisting the Gypsy and Traveller Liaison officer regarding unauthorised encampments and the Swindon Council traveller transit site.
