It's a super exciting time to join us as we begin to deliver Stop Smoking Services throughout County Durham, and we're looking for a Specialist Stop Smoking Advisor (Social Housing Clients) to join our team. Our Stop Smoking Programmes support local people who live, study or work in County Durham and want or need to quit smoking. This role is designed to engage with individuals, residents, social landlords and partner organisations; to help and support those living in key neighbourhoods and communities to quit smoking.
Role and Responsibilities
- Deliver evidence‑based interventions that focus on smoking cessation, behaviour change, and psychological support to help smokers quit for good.
- Run stop smoking clinics in social housing hubs, information centres or community‑based settings, working with clients on both a one‑to‑one and group basis.
- Develop and deliver successful engagement and marketing initiatives, helping local people to know where and when to get stop smoking support.
- Work with local businesses, partner organisations, and colleagues across systems to improve client uptake and meet targets.
- Ensure an excellent and safe experience for clients, in alignment with our policies and procedures.
- Engage in training relevant to your role, such as NCSCT Stop Smoking training and Behaviour Change Level 1 and 2.
- Use relevant information technology and systems to manage your day‑to‑day tasks and client databases.
- Collaborate across all Thrive Tribe services to contribute to new projects and service developments.
- Ensure due consideration is given to Information Governance and Clinical Governance legislation, requirements and guidance.
- Help maintain the ethos of Thrive Tribe by driving our organisational culture forward across our services and embedding our values.
Desired Experience and Qualifications
- Experience delivering support to clients to make healthy lifestyle choices is desirable, though full training for the role will be provided.
- Completion of NCSCT Stop Smoking Advisor training is a bonus.

Contract & Salary
- Full Time (37.5 hours/week) Permanent contract.
- Salary: Starting range £26,000 to £28,000 dependent on experience.
Location and Travel
Your base will be our office at The Greenhouse, Annfield Plain, County Durham. Much of your time will be spent engaging with social landlords, local communities and partners and delivering face‑to‑face sessions across the whole of County Durham. When not in the County, you will be able to work from the office or from home. A car is desired.
