We are looking for an enthusiastic Sheltered Housing Officer to become an asset to our Sheltered Housing Team and really make a difference. This will be by providing support, assistance and advice to vulnerable customers in our Sheltered Housing Scheme.

Working in a front line, friendly and welcoming team you will provide support and assistance to our residents in our sheltered schemes across the city.

We have a full time, permanent post working 37 hours per week. This will be on a rota basis which include weekends and bank holidays and and also to cover other staff absences. St Marks/Matthews Housing Office, however, you\’ll also be required to work at various sheltered housing locations around the city as and when required.

What you\’ll be doing

Within this varied role, not one day will be the same. You\’ll be working with vulnerable people daily, visiting their homes carrying out face to face interviews and making calls to residents living in the residential units. You\’ll also be required to visit various different residential units on a daily to ensure all Health & Safety standards and Fire Regulations are met within in the unit. In addition, you may be requested to cover other units in the city. Following on from this, you\’ll be required to report on anything untoward be and liaise with other sections and contractors to ensure all repairs are maintained. You\’ll have the ability to deal with and resolve difficult situations with tact and diplomacy within the unit and complete the reports and using the relevant database.

What you\’ll need

With experience working in a public face-to-face environment whether this be in their home or residential home, you\’ll have the ability to act sensitively to the needs of customers from a wide variety of backgrounds and have a caring, compassionate, and understanding approach. In addition, you\’ll have considerable experience working specifically with vulnerable people in a caring coordinating role. You\’ll be an organised individual who will be able to plan and prioritise own workload. You\’ll have general clerical experience and be able to make accurate written notes, observations and interviews with the ability to store these in a secure and confidential way.

You\’ll need to have access to your own transport to enable you to get to any of our 14 schemes across the city.
