Role Overview
The Rent Officer will support the Income Management team by ensuring effective and efficient delivery of income management duties, including rent collection and arrears management for current and former customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide early intervention, guidance and assistance to customers who are struggling to meet rent or arrears payments.
- Work collaboratively with the Communities team and other colleagues to resolve arrears cases promptly and comprehensively.
- Ensure all formal arrears action is justified, proportionate and acted upon in line with current policies, procedures and legislation.
- Maintain accurate records of all customer interactions and actions taken.
- Support the implementation of arrears recovery procedures and enforcement of tenancy conditions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in a similar role dealing with challenging situations and complex lifestyles.
- Knowledge of social housing, housing legislation and welfare benefits.
- Experience of implementing arrears recovery procedures and enforcing tenancy conditions.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office 365.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- A valid driving licence, access to own vehicle with full MOT and insurance for business use.
