Help People be Seen, Heard and Supported

At N-Compass, we believe strong communities start with listening. Every voice matters, especially those that are too often unheard. We're looking for a Community Engagement Officer to join our warm, purpose-driven organisation, helping us reach more people and strengthen relationships.

About the role

As a Community Engagement Officer, you'll be out in the community building relationships and opening doors. You'll work closely with carers, community groups and partner organisations to raise awareness of our services, identify hidden carers and ensure their experiences help shape support and services.

Key responsibilities

  • Building strong, trusted relationships across communities and partner organisations
  • Engaging with carers from diverse and under-represented groups
  • Supporting meaningful participation, co-production and feedback opportunities
  • Representing N-Compass at community events, forums and meetings
  • Helping carers feel confident to share their views, ideas and experiences
  • Capturing insight and learning to inform service development and improvement

You’ll work flexibly, balancing outreach, partnership working and reflective learning with the autonomy to shape how engagement happens on the ground. You’ll need a driving licence and vehicle to travel around the Lancashire area and will benefit from regular team working and connectivity as well as the flexibility to work from home.

About you

We have an excellent training package and will support your development to learn the role, but you will be someone who:

  • Enjoys working with people from all backgrounds and walks of life
  • Understands the importance of trust, dignity and inclusion
  • Has experience in community engagement, outreach, participation or similar roles
  • Is a confident communicator who listens as well as they speak
  • Is organised, reflective and comfortable managing a varied workload

You don't need to have worked in carers services before, what matters most is your values, approach and commitment to inclusion.

Why work at N-Compass?

We are proud to be a people-first organisation. Colleagues tell us they stay because:

  • Our values are lived, not laminated - kindness, empowerment and integrity guide our decisions
  • You're trusted - we value professional judgement and encourage initiative
  • We invest in development - learning, growth and confidence matter here
  • Flexibility is taken seriously - we recognise people have lives beyond work
  • Support is built in - regular supervision, reflective practice and collaborative teams
  • Your work makes a visible difference - communities tell us when it matters

We want N-Compass to be a place where people feel safe, valued and able to do their best work.

Equality, diversity and inclusion

We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly encourage applications from under-represented communities and people with lived experience. If you require any adjustments to participate in the recruitment and selection process, please contact a member of our People Services Team - hr@n-compass.org.uk.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check. This role may be closed prior to the advertised closing date, dependent on applicant numbers, therefore early applications are advised.
