Salary £32,000 per annum plus 34 days leave, rising to 39 and a health cash plan saving you and your children over £1140 a year. Permanent, full time (37.5 pw) hybrid regional office and home working. Portsmouth, Reading or London based.

Join us as a Housing Manager at Home Group, in our awesome Income Housing team in South Region. Ensuring we provide safe homes and communities where people choose to live, while also ensuring our income is maximised. You'll provide first class customer service, delivering our customer promise every day!

What you'll do

  • You’ll look after a number of patches and customer accounts, ensuring compliance with our rent collection policy and procedure.
  • You will provide support where it’s needed most, advising and supporting on benefit applications and maximising income for customers – for example discretionary housing payments or Universal Credit applications.
  • You’ll build up a knowledge base and know who offers support in your region, and you’ll know how to make successful and meaningful referrals to external agencies where needed.
  • You will work with housing managers on specific campaigns to reduce arrears, such as targeted work with customers in a locality, or where there is an increase in returned direct debits.
  • You’ll be proactively working to commercially reduce debt within the region, with a positive impact for customers.
  • You’ll attend Court Hearings within your patch area, and occasionally within the region depending on need.

You have

  • You are experienced in the housing sector and understand housing management, housing law and, in an ideal world, Universal Credit too!
  • A knowledge of rent arrears management in a housing environment.
  • You have, or are willing to work towards Chartered Institute of Housing Level 3.
  • This job can challenge, especially when we’re dealing with complaints, but your resilience will help you through.
  • Confident working with external partners and stakeholders such as local authorities, MP’s etc.
  • You have knowledge of housing law, safeguarding, and sustaining tenancies.

The practical bits

  • You’ll work core hours between 9am and 5pm with flexibility built in.
  • It’s a hybrid role with a minimum of 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home.
  • You’ll cover a patch, working independently across the South Region.
  • You need a vehicle insured for business use, and we pay your mileage.
  • You need an Enhanced DBS check that we pay for.
