About The Role

If so, we want to hear from you. We are looking for a Support Worker to work in our Complex Needs Services - Adults and Families service in Plymouth. The role includes supporting people to manage their tenancy, understanding benefits and encouraging positive life skills like budgeting, wellbeing and social inclusion. This is a varied and rewarding role where flexibility, empathy and sound judgement are key. You’ll be supporting people to work towards positive outcomes in an ever‑changing environment, recognising their strengths and encouraging independence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering a high‑quality, responsive and person‑centred support service to customers with complex needs
- Building and maintaining positive, professional relationships with customers, colleagues and partner agencies
- Working with individuals to identify support needs and develop clear, outcome‑focused support plans
- Promoting independence, choice and inclusion, helping to reduce social isolation
- Completing and reviewing risk assessments, managing risk in line with policies and procedures
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to service targets and outcomes
- Working within professional boundaries and ensuring safeguarding, equality, diversity and confidentiality requirements are met

This is a part time role working 29.6 hours per week. This is an office based role, working in our Plymouth office. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable groups. Appointment to this role is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
About The Candidate
To be successful in your application for the role of Support Worker – Supported Housing, you will have the essential skills and experience for a level 1 role (please see candidate information pack) and the following role specific skills and experience:
Essential
- Experience of supporting people from a range of backgrounds with differing support needs
- Ability to build effective working relationships and maintain professional boundaries
- Experience of maintaining records and contributing to action or support plans
- Confidence to make informed decisions and take accountability for actions
- Ability to work independently, including lone working, and as part of a team
- Willingness to work flexibly to meet customer needs
- Clear understanding of equality, diversity and working with vulnerable people
- Good level of literacy and numeracy
- Safeguarding awareness or certification
Desirable
- Knowledge of housing‑related support and the challenges people may face
- Understanding of training, employment, education or social activity pathways
- Previous experience of working with vulnerable individuals in housing or support settings
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant field
