Role Overview
To support housing development projects within the Creating a Better Place programme to ensure the Council's priority for quality homes are provided to meet the needs of residents and communities.
Key Responsibilities
- To develop and maintain close working relationships with key stakeholders including developers, local and regional housing providers, strategic housing and planning teams and external agencies such as Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Homes England.
- To assist the Team Leader and Principal Housing Development Officers in funding bids and business case development that supports Oldham's Local Plan, Town Centre Vision, sustainable economic, social and environmental regeneration and financial efficiency.
- To support the development and implementation of local planning policies to ensure an up-to-date planning policy framework for the borough, in line with the relevant legislation and statutory requirements and taking account of the Council's regeneration and new housing aspirations.
Key Requirements
- Experience in residential development and/or planning policy required to deliver high quality new homes.
- Well-developed project and programme management skills, including the ability to manage budgets and resources in accordance with the Council's adopted Programme Management Systems.
- Good communication skills, including negotiation skills both orally and in writing and with the skills to deliver information to a variety of audiences including senior managers, internal teams, politicians, developers and residents.
