Who Are We?
The Percy Hedley Foundation is one of the largest regional charities supporting people with a range of learning and physical needs. We take a person centred, flexible approach to the care and support we provide. We have five sites providing specialist education, adult day services, residential care and independent supported living. Our sites are based in Forest Hall, Killingworth, Jesmond, Newcastle City Centre and North Shields.
The Role
Please note we do not offer sponsorship, applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Please note due to the current demands of the service this requirement is for female staff only. We are looking to appoint Support Workers to join the team at Ferndene Supported Living. Ferndene comprises 10 self-contained bungalows all within one building with a shared walkway, gardens and car parking. Each bungalow is occupied by one individual. There is a small area within the building for staff to use as a base. The people who live within Ferndene require assistance throughout the day to enable them to be as independent as they can be and lead lives that are meaningful to them. The support provided may be assistance with medication administration, meal preparation, moving and handling, personal care support, shopping, and/or planning and supporting individuals to attend planned events or appointments.
Percy Hedley provides the care and support to the people living at Ferndene, each person has a different requirement of support both in terms of the amount of hours and the tasks that are involved. We are looking for people who are enthusiastic, willing to learn, and are keen to support people to achieve their goals. In Ferndene you will work as a team of support workers to provide support to all individuals. You must be a great team player, who is flexible, organised and has the skills to work with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the people we support receive the highest level of care. Being able to adapt and respond to evolving situations with a person-centred approach is essential for an independent living scheme.
As this is a 24/7 service, part and full time hours are available but you must be open to working both days and nights.
