Full Time and Part Time / from 18.5 to 37 Hours Per week / Permanent and Fixed Term for up to 12 months.
Play a key role in supporting the tenants, leaseholders and residents of Leicester to provide a better and safer neighbourhood. Join our dedicated team working to maintain Leicester City Council's high quality, local tenancy, and estate management services. In this rewarding role, you'll keep up to date with initiatives, legislation, and standards. You'll liaise with Councillors, Police, Health Workers, and other council departments to be a visible presence for tenants, leaseholders and residents providing advice, information and reports on all housing matters.
Initially you will be working from home and from local council buildings, however you will be required to make site and home visits. On occasion you may be required to work after office hours to deal with emergency situations.
What you'll be doing:
- Carrying out welfare visits, you'll identify, assess, and assist vulnerable tenants to sustain tenancies. This could be in relation to concerns of safeguarding or tenants who have disabilities and additional needs.
- You'll prepare action plans, refer, and liaise with supported agencies, including arranging case conferences.
- You'll carry out inspections and where applicable issue warning letters when tenants are not complying.
- At times, you'll deal with challenging behaviours from tenants who may have substance misuse issues or are facing difficult circumstances.
- You'll proactively ensure compliance for all legislation including participating in fire inspections, fire risk assessments and fire audits, co-ordinate remedial works as well as update and maintain database records.
What you'll need:
- With experience in social housing/welfare, or environment you'll have experience working with the public and managing sensitive and sometimes difficult situations.
- Looking after your area you'll be confident in providing accurate advice on areas such as tenancy and property rights.
- Furthermore, using excellent verbal communication skills, you'll raise awareness and work closely with tenants, repairs services and customer services to deliver an effective service.
- Resilient, with strong interpersonal skills, you'll be able to effectively engage with tenants and build a trusting relationship with them.
