We're looking for a Premises Officer to join our Lewisham PFI Schools team based in Lewisham.
Location: Deptford Green School, Lewisham
Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday)

The Premises Officer plays an essential role in ensuring the optimal functioning and safety of our school premises. This position offers the opportunity to make a real difference by maintaining a welcoming, safe, and well‑functioning environment for pupils and staff. You'll be part of a supportive team, working proactively to manage maintenance tasks, respond quickly to issues, and coordinate activities that keep our schools running smoothly.
Responsibilities
Conducting regular quality checks of the premises to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality
Carrying out minor repairs such as fixing light fixtures, addressing plumbing issues, and maintaining door hardware
Performing planned preventative maintenance and liaising with external contractors for larger repairs
Assisting school staff with porterage tasks including furniture moving, display mounting, and equipment repairs
Maintaining site security by opening and locking gates, patrolling the premises, and responding to incidents according to school procedures
Qualifications
Previous experience in premises management, facilities maintenance, or a related field
Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and ability to identify potential hazards
Effective communication skills and enjoyment of working collaboratively with others
Ability to prioritise tasks effectively and work calmly under pressure
Flexible, reliable, and willing to respond to emergencies outside regular hours when needed
