Hours: Full Time, 37 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

This role is open to full time, part time, and job share applications, all of which will be assessed equally.

Join our team. We are looking for an Income Officer to join our Tenant Services team. If you share our values and you are motivated to make a difference for our residents, clients, and communities, we would love to hear from you.

About the role:

  • You will join a dedicated team of income officers with responsibility for collecting Housing Revenue Account income.
  • Deliver a detailed range of housing and welfare benefits advice to customers, considering individual needs and relevant legislation, the policies and procedures of the council and identify appropriate solutions/support available where necessary.
  • Use appropriate enforcement powers to recover outstanding debt.
  • Work collaboratively with other services, teams and partners to ensure income to the Housing Revenue Account is maximised and tenants have access to all available advice and appropriate support required to sustain their tenancies.

About you:

  • The ideal candidate will have a relevant qualification at NVQ4/HNC/degree or equivalent knowledge gained through experience of working within housing or a housing related field.
  • You will also demonstrate experience in debt case management and tenancy enforcement within a housing environment including preparing cases for court and representing the council in court providing assistance and advice, and show understanding and empathy with people facing personal difficulties.
  • Problem solving, demonstrating a proactive approach.
