An exciting opportunity to reduce rough sleeping in Edinburgh. The role is based in The Access Place and works closely with Rapid Access Accommodation providers, Bethany Christian Trust’s Welcome Centre, and Streetwork/Cyrenians outreach services.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out homeless assessments in various settings and meet people who are rough sleeping.
- Provide personal initial support and action plans.
- Identify and refer clients to accommodation and other services.
- Manage casework electronically and record all activities.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams (housing, social work, health, third sector).
- Collaborate with the Streetwork street outreach team to locate and support people on the streets.
Qualifications & Experience
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Energy and enthusiasm to work with people who have multiple or complex needs.
- Understanding of homelessness, especially in Scotland, and knowledge of the Scottish Code of Guidance on Homelessness (2019).
- Experience working with people who have experienced trauma, substance use or health issues is desirable.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work focused and well with on‑ and off‑site partners.
- Commitment to a trauma‑informed and psychologically informed service environment.
Additional Requirements
- Role is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
- Successful candidate must join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.
- Candidate must provide an Overseas Criminal Record Check if they have spent a continuous period of three months or more out of the UK in the last five years.
- Unconditional offer contingent on satisfactory pre‑employment checks.
