We are currently recruiting for an experienced Homelessness Outreach Worker to join a team in Croydon on a 6-week temporary cover assignment.
The Role
You will work directly with people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, providing practical support, advice and guidance to help individuals access appropriate accommodation and support services.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out street-based outreach and engage with people experiencing homelessness.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with service users.
- Assess individual needs and identify appropriate support pathways.
- Provide advice and assistance around housing, benefits, health and other support needs.
- Liaise with local authorities, housing providers and partner agencies.
- Support individuals to access accommodation and relevant services.
- Maintain accurate case notes and records.
- Work proactively to promote safety, wellbeing and independence.
About You
We are looking for someone with:
- Previous experience working with people experiencing homelessness or rough sleeping.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A person-centred and non-judgemental approach.
- Good knowledge of housing and homelessness services.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
- Experience of working with vulnerable adults and complex needs is desirable.
