Anglia Care Trust is looking for a Supported Housing Officer. The primary purpose of the role is to support service users across our Temporary Housing Service to make positive change and gain life skills necessary for independent living.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing support to individuals to bring about positive change and reduce barriers preventing them from moving to independent living
  • Providing flexible support using an asset-based approach, recognising strengths and building upon them
  • Ensuring support is delivered in a way that empowers individuals to take ownership of their lives
  • Liaising with partner agencies to meet individuals’ needs and increase options within two years
  • Managing rent and service charge payments from residents in line with their tenancy or license agreements
  • Supporting tenants to manage their accommodation

Essential conditions:

  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (service covers Braintree and Haverhill areas)

Qualifications & Knowledge:

  • Support planning
  • Tenancy management, including Health and Safety compliance
  • Housing pathways across Suffolk and other areas based on individual need
  • Risk assessment and risk management
  • Solution-focused working
  • Ability to challenge and change entrenched patterns of behaviour
  • Confidence to challenge other service providers
  • Good working knowledge of current welfare benefits
  • Ability to work to targets and deadlines
  • Safeguarding adults and children
