About the role

North Yorkshire Council have a national reputation for excellence, and we are looking for Independent Reviewing Officers with a variety of experience and skills. As an IRO in North Yorkshire, you will have a key role in ensuring the safety and welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver on all aspects of the Independent Reviewing Officer guidance, chair reviews and oversee the plans for Children in Care.
  • Chair Child Protection Conferences.
  • Undertake Regulation 44 visits to children’s homes.
  • Conduct Annual Reviews for Foster Carers.
  • Provide a crucial quality assurance role and significantly contribute to improving outcomes for children and young people.
  • Chair complex meetings across North Yorkshire as required.
  • Meet with children and their families in person while working remotely from multiple locations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience working as an Independent Reviewing Officer or similar role in children’s services.
  • Experience conducting reviews, child protection conferences, Regulation 44 visits, and foster carer reviews.
  • Demonstrated ability to chair meetings and provide quality assurance.
  • Ability to travel across North Yorkshire and work from multiple locations.

Grade: M; Contract: Permanent; Hours: 37 per week; Location: Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
Enhanced Level DBS Disclosure is required for appointment to this post.
