About the role
North Yorkshire Council have a national reputation for excellence, and we are looking for Independent Reviewing Officers with a variety of experience and skills. As an IRO in North Yorkshire, you will have a key role in ensuring the safety and welfare of children and young people.
Responsibilities
- Deliver on all aspects of the Independent Reviewing Officer guidance, chair reviews and oversee the plans for Children in Care.
- Chair Child Protection Conferences.
- Undertake Regulation 44 visits to children’s homes.
- Conduct Annual Reviews for Foster Carers.
- Provide a crucial quality assurance role and significantly contribute to improving outcomes for children and young people.
- Chair complex meetings across North Yorkshire as required.
- Meet with children and their families in person while working remotely from multiple locations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience working as an Independent Reviewing Officer or similar role in children’s services.
- Experience conducting reviews, child protection conferences, Regulation 44 visits, and foster carer reviews.
- Demonstrated ability to chair meetings and provide quality assurance.
- Ability to travel across North Yorkshire and work from multiple locations.
