An opportunity is available for a Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to support the Asylum and Refugee Health Team. You will be involved in completing mental health assessments, education support to patients, including safety and stabilisation support, and care planning for the asylum and refugee population open to the service. You will work within a Health & Social Care Partnership model, acting as an autonomous practitioner to promote, provide, and coordinate care in various locations. The Asylum and Refugee Health Team nursing service operates an open‑access policy, delivering care to individuals and families in homeless and asylum accommodation.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern: This is a permanent post for part‑time hours 21.6. These hours will be worked Monday‑Thursday 0900‑1700, Friday 0900‑1530. This post is based at Clyde House, 209 Govan Road, Glasgow, G51 1HJ. Please note the salary is pro‑rata for part‑time hours.
Key responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for managing your own caseload under direct supervision from a Senior Nurse or Team Leader.
- As part of the Asylum Refugee Health Team, you will have responsibility for the assessment of patient care needs and the development and evaluation of programmes of care.
- You will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of care in partnership with patients, carers and other professionals in line with agreed standards and clinical policies, and to participate in regular caseload supervision without direct supervision.
- Supervising the practice of, and demonstrating procedures to, student nurses and unqualified staff will be an important aspect of the role, as will be the mentoring of nurses undergoing basic nurse training.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Registered Mental Nurse (RMN) with current NMC registration.
- Experience at Band 5 level within a community setting.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to fulfil the main duties and responsibilities as outlined in the job description.
- Recognises the importance of lifelong learning and takes personal responsibility for ongoing professional development.
- Utilises organisational resources and structures to support learning and development.
- Demonstrates new skills and knowledge gained through training and development programmes.
- Identifies areas for development relevant to the role using the Personal Development Plan.
- Driving licence desirable.
