This is a unique opportunity to play a leading role in one of the UK's largest and most ambitious residential property programmes. You will help shape the future of Defence housing, leading the strategy and delivery of a significant portfolio of property sales and acquisitions that supports the long-term needs of Service personnel and their families.

Reporting to the Director of Planning & Delivery, you will provide strategic leadership for the housing sales and acquisitions portfolio, ensuring alignment with the Defence Housing Strategy and wider Defence infrastructure priorities. Operating within a complex and fast-paced environment, you will drive delivery at scale, influence senior stakeholders and ensure the successful execution of major residential property transactions across the Defence estate.

You will lead the development and implementation of innovative sales and acquisition strategies, overseeing a programme expected to deliver around 10,000 property sales and 2,500 acquisitions while generating more than £2 billion in receipts. Working across Defence, government and industry, you will build strong strategic partnerships, shape future business models and ensure robust governance, financial control and value for money throughout the delivery lifecycle.

As a senior leader, you will manage multidisciplinary teams spanning programme delivery, commercial, property, finance and assurance disciplines. You will be responsible for developing business cases, investment strategies and programme plans, while providing authoritative advice to senior leaders and governance boards. Your leadership will be central to ensuring that housing acquisitions, disposals and procurement activities are delivered effectively, compliantly and in line with strategic objectives.

To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced residential property professional with a strong track record in sales and acquisitions at portfolio level. You will bring significant commercial and financial expertise, an ability to influence senior decision-makers, and experience of delivering complex programmes within the property, infrastructure, estates or construction sectors. A confident communicator and strategic thinker, you will have the credibility and leadership skills needed to drive performance, manage risk and deliver outcomes in a highly visible environment.

Essential Criteria

  • Significant experience of working in a sales and acquisition residential property environment
  • Experience of working within an infrastructure, estates, or construction programme/portfolio of works.
  • Effective leadership of multi-disciplinary teams engaged in large-scale programmes, portfolios and projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to present data and information clearly to a variety of audiences
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to present evidence-based argument and business cases to influence senior decision-making and resolve strategic issues
  • Experience working at a strategic level with budgets and financial data
  • The ability to deliver at pace taking responsibility for timeous delivery of outcomes with focus and drive
  • Experience of managing complex networks of stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of P3M planning including the use of planning tools for delivery
