Medway Council Landlord Services owns and manages around 3200 homes in the Medway area. We aim to provide excellent services to tenants. We are a high performing customer focused service and our performance is excellent when compared with other similar housing organisations. We are looking for 2 experienced, dynamic, and highly motivated Tenancy Management professionals to join our Tenancy Team to continue delivering excellent services to our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Deal with complex tenancy cases at risk, including self-neglect cases or hoarded properties; attend professional meetings; work closely with the Tenancy Management Sustainment Officer.
  • Carry out lettings and sign-ups on Medway Council properties and garages.
  • Manage a wide range of tenancy functions such as mutual exchanges, succession and change of tenancy requests.
  • Consult with and involve customers to ensure their views are considered in tenancy management decisions.
  • Carry out tenancy visits including introductory visits and tenancy audits.
  • Undertake estate inspections and liaise with cleaning and grounds maintenance contractors to keep estates and blocks in good condition.
  • Ensure compliance with gas servicing requirements and represent the Council in court for no-access properties when required.
  • Attend surgeries regularly and represent the Tenancy Team at community events.
  • Collaborate with the Tenancy Management Anti-Social Behaviour Officer when there is overlap with anti-social behaviour and other tenancy breaches.
  • Cover the Housing Duty phone line on a rota basis.

Requirements

  • Experience of working in a social housing management environment, ideally within a local authority setting.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge of tenancy management law and good practice.
  • Commitment to teamwork and to providing excellent customer services.
  • Current driving license and daily access to a vehicle.
  • Standard DBS check required.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage own workload and meet competing deadlines.

Additional Information

The successful post holder will be subject to a Standard DBS check. Salary: The role is aligned with the Career Progression Framework (CPF). The advertised salary is at level A, with progression to B and C possible after in-post development. When applying, identify suitability against the job requirements as this information will be used for shortlisting and CPF assessment. Further information is available in the CPF Guidance document attached. Level A details the essential criteria for all applicants. Level B outlines developed competencies for practitioners at the role, and Level C requires the highest level of competence, including qualifications and experience. We are seeking a Tenancy Management Officer at level B, with a salary at the mid-point of the range. All elements of Level A and B listed in the person specification are essential. You will be supported to develop through induction, probation, performance appraisal, and career conversations.
