Overview
The role is Scheme Housing Officer within Southern Housing's Extra Care, Independent Living Team. You will provide frontline housing management services while ensuring the safety and well‑being of our schemes to enable residents to live independently in active communities. The role typically requires working five days a week, demonstrating an understanding of the diverse needs of older people, delivering excellent customer service, and the ability to work collaboratively under pressure. Driving is essential as you may need to cover at other schemes. Candidates should be able to use stairs to carry out duties (compliance and Health & Safety checks).
Responsibilities
- Deliver an effective, customer‑focused housing management and support service in partnership with multi‑agency teams, aligning with Southern Housing culture, current and future legislation, policy, procedure and best practice.
- Operate the service in line with the role's agreed parameters.
- Assess needs and risks, and provide personalised support to residents.
- Understand housing management performance targets relevant to your scheme(s) and contribute to achieving them.
- Collaborate with other agencies to ensure residents can access a full range of services and support.
- Maintain administration systems and records, and provide monthly performance reports as required.
Requirements
- Understanding of the diverse needs of older people.
- Ability to develop internal and external partnership working to generate effective solutions.
- Effective time and task management, ability to work under pressure both individually and in a team, with good computer skills.
- Ability to work as a lone worker while managing time effectively.
- Customer-focused with experience of providing excellent customer care.
- Flexibility to work to priorities and deadlines, with minimal supervision.
- Ability to respond professionally to customer feedback and complaints.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
