We are seeking an experienced and driven manager to lead a large, high-profile statutory service at the heart of our Housing directorate. This is a challenging and rewarding leadership role where you will make a tangible difference to residents at risk of homelessness, shaping services that are proactive, customer-focused and legally robust.

You will lead the operational delivery of our homelessness prevention and housing solutions service, ensuring the Council meets its statutory duties while driving early intervention, partnership working and positive outcomes for customers.

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operational delivery of the Homelessness Prevention and Housing Solutions Service, ensuring a consistent, high-quality customer journey.
  • Interpret and apply homelessness and housing legislation, ensuring practice remains fully compliant with current law, guidance and policy.
  • Manage and motivate a large multidisciplinary team, including workload allocation, performance management, rota planning and staff development.
  • Oversee complex homelessness decisions, reviews, eligibility assessments and banding, ensuring fairness, transparency and legal compliance.
  • Develop strong partnerships with internal services and external agencies including registered providers, private landlords, health services, voluntary organisations and statutory partners.
What we're looking for:

You will be a confident and resilient leader with significant experience in homelessness or housing services and a strong understanding of the legislative framework. You will have proven experience of managing large teams within front-line services with strong decision-making skills, and experience of handling complex, sensitive casework. A clear commitment to excellent customer service and improving outcomes for residents is essential.
