Manage a complex and demanding caseload in a busy, front-line, pressurised service, routinely undertaking home visits for those at risk of homelessness to fully understand the situation and provide innovative and tailored options to prevent homelessness through advice, advocacy, negotiation and mediation to avoid the need for temporary accommodation.

Undertake home visits to verify households' circumstances, establish occupancy and ensure that those for whom the council has secured temporary accommodation are residing there as their main residence. Always perform responsibilities with a customer-service and performance-management focus.

Provide confident, professional advice to applicants on homelessness-related matters. Foster a culture of accountability, inclusivity and service excellence.

About you

You will be a collaborative and credible officer with substantial experience in homelessness within a local authority or similar complex organisation, successful at demonstrating outcomes to intervene early and prevent homelessness and the need for temporary accommodation. You will bring:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience across housing.
  • A strong understanding of housing legislation, regulation and current national policy.
  • Proven ability to operate in a political environment and provide clear advice to applicants.
  • Strong collaborative, communication and partnership-working capabilities.
