Role Specifics

Essential Car User: Applicants must hold a full, current, and valid driving licence and a vehicle with a current valid MOT certificate and adequate vehicle insurance cover to comply with the council's requirements.

The Role

To deliver high quality housing options and advice to homeless households and others in housing need.

  • Provide all aspects of casework from contact/initial application, assessment, focusing on the provision of prevention and relief assistance and decision making in accordance with homeless legislation.
  • Assist vulnerable customers to access and engage in services; offer advice and support on all options; advocate and negotiate on behalf of customers.
  • Work closely with other agencies externally and internally to provide options, prevent and relieve homelessness and to provide for other household needs.

  • Excellent teamwork and communication & networking skills to build positive relationships and support customers to take ownership of addressing their housing and other needs.
  • Understanding, knowledge, and awareness of housing need, homelessness issues, relevant legislation and associated service provision.
  • Excellent casework practice and strive for best practice in support of the team and service as a whole.
  • Ability to manage own caseload.
  • Initiative, effective organisation, planning and prioritising, with a track record of making appropriate decisions and securing positive outcomes with complex casework.
