How will you contribute:
Ciena is seeking Software Engineers to join our engineering team and help drive the development of the Service Aware Operating System (SAOS), in order to support our customers in developing and deploying their virtualized networks.
- Develop embedded software on the Ciena NOS, which is a modified Linux operating system.
- Participate in all stages of software development - requirements analysis, architect and high-level design, implementation and testing.
- Troubleshoot software issues, provide customer and verification support.
- Design and develop unit tests and test-automation suites.
- Engage with Product Owners to evolve software applications adopting new features and technologies without compromising performance.
- Influence and/or define the software architecture, improve resiliency, debuggability and maintainability.
Required skills:
- Ability to write quality C code along with automated unit test cases using Python/C.
- In depth understanding of Linux OS & Open Source software development.
- Experience with design & development of L2/L3 networking or equivalent Control Plane technologies.
- Experience in troubleshooting large-scale deployments.
- Experience in manageability frameworks such as Yang/XML.
- Experience using the Atlassian tool suite, Git, Jenkins.
Must haves:
- Requires a Degree in Computer Science (or similar) with 4+ years of related experience.
Assets:
- Self-motivated, strong sense of ownership, good teamwork & collaboration skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal manager guidance.
- Be open to continuous learning and continuous self-improvement.
- Strong communication skills are required.
