Making a difference through the design and implementation of leading network technologies defines this early-career engineering role at Ciena. The position contributes to delivering high-quality network solutions and supports customer deployments with measurable impact. How you will make an impact:
- Deliver post-sales solution engineering activities including solution design, acceptance, remote deployment, and network reconfiguration or migration under senior engineer supervision.
- Interface with Systems Engineers, Service Project Managers, Technical Support, Field Service Engineers, and Customer Service Advocate teams to coordinate delivery activities.
- Analyse network designs to enable consistent deployment and in-service upgrades of network equipment.
- Translate network designs into solution designs for new builds, reconfiguration, and network upgrade projects.
- Gather and analyse customer network data to develop migration strategies for transition onto platform solutions.
- Review technical deployment packages with internal and external stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment across deployment teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical deployment package issues in collaboration with engineering, customer, and internal teams.
The must haves:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Not more than 1 year of experience in a related discipline.
- Application of Layer 0/1 optical or transmission technologies and/or Layer 2-3 networking concepts including IP protocols.
- Application of scripting or DevOps tools such as Python, Java, or Ansible.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and establish best practices.
- Ability to review and analyse project information to translate conceptual designs into implementation processes.
Nice to haves:
- Customer service interaction in technical environments.
- Written and verbal communication in English.
- Utilisation of MS Office applications including Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel approximately 25%.
