CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) is a global, non-profit, non-governmental organization that operates 60 study centers in over 40 countries worldwide. It serves over 300 U.S. College and University consortia and supports study programs for around 6000 students annually. Established in 1947, CIEE is the world leader in international education and exchange.
CIEE London is situated on the south side of Russell Square in Bloomsbury. Up to 500 students study with us all year round, and this number may grow as we return to pre-pandemic student levels. You would join a team of 8 full-time staff and a teaching faculty of around 20 core lecturers. You will report to the Centre Director.

Responsibilities
- Advising and Communication
- Serve as a resource and counsel for individual students, student interest groups and student populations with unique needs.
- Create a welcoming, trusting and open environment and meet informally and frequently with students to discuss all student life matters.
- Provide referrals to individual students for professional counselling and medical services as required.
- Keep student information confidential when appropriate and share relevant student information with CIEE colleagues, sending school or parents when necessary to protect student health and safety or to resolve disciplinary or academic issues.
- Be available during business hours for regular advising and by phone for emergencies after-hours.
- Student Conduct
- Communicate applicable codes of conduct and the consequences of nonâcompliance to participants.
- Take appropriate action when students violate codes of conduct, in coordination with the Centre Director depending on the degree of severity and number of infractions.
- Orientation
- Develop, coordinate, and evaluate preâdeparture and onâsite orientation programs in consultation with the Centre Director.
- Coordinate with the Study Abroad Advisor to plan and facilitate online preâdeparture orientation (OPDO) for each program.
- Invite speakers and deliver orientation content for all centre sessions regarding health and safety, housing, registration, and logistics.
- Develop and execute campus and city orientations, excursions and cohortâbuilding exercises and activities.
- Activities
- Design a program of activities and events that support the needs and learning goals of individual programs.
- Lead and actively participate in student activities.
- Develop and implement experiential learning and volunteer opportunities and events.
- Conduct student evaluation of activities each term.
- Housing
- Plan and coordinate all housing arrangements for students and faculty (including Custom programmes) to ensure CIEE standards and program objectives are met.
- Conduct evaluations during each term.
- Oversee communication with housing providers to ensure maintenance requests are adequately addressed.
- Work with Centre Director to establish standards and objectives for student housing.
- Ensure compliance with CIEE housing processes, procedures and policies.
- Health and Safety
- Perform necessary due diligence to ensure a healthy and safe environment in the office, classrooms, housing and during trips for both students and staff.
- Plan and update emergency protocols, and introduce these protocols to students and staff each semester during orientation and prior to trips.
- Ensure the emergency phone schedule is implemented, operational and tested.
- Maintain the Student Travel Itinerary and ensure that students register all overnight or longâdistance travel outside the city.
- Provide appropriate advice and warnings to participants during orientation and throughout the program to help minimize risk and increase student accountability for their own health and safety.
- Administration
- This role will progressively expand to support the facultyâled, High School Programs and FirstâYear Program Coordinators in the coordination and delivery of their programs. Previous relevant experience is preferred.
- Work with the Enrolment teams on updating student numbers and applying correctly to bed numbers.
- Lodge student applications with our Host Universities.
- Coâcreate, review, and oversee site policies, practices, procedures and budgets related to areas of responsibility.
- Ensure stakeholders are issuing correct invoices for their services.
- Work with the Centre Director to establish annual budget for areas of responsibility.
- Review expenses to ensure that budget goals are met, submit timely and accurate forecasts as appropriate.
- Conduct student evaluation of activities each term/visit.
- Input data and student evaluation feedback into CIEE databases as required.
- Assist the Centre Director in the identification, recruitment, management and oversight of seasonal visit coordinators and other temporary staff.
- Marketing & Communications
- Manage CIEE London social media platforms and regularly post content.
- Assist in the maintenance of content for the CIEE London web pages.
- Draft content for U.S. universities and studentâfacing marketing materials including catalogues, course documents, program handbooks, website copy, etc.
- Assist in the planning, organisation and delivery of site visits as required.

Required experience, skills and qualifications
- Undergraduate level degree or equivalent.
- 3-4 years' experience working in student support services including in a pastoral care / wellbeing capacity.
- Team management (supervisory) or leadership experience.
- Knowledge of London and England more widely, as well as British culture; competence in event planning and programming.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others.
- Crisis management skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- A flexible approach to working hours.
- Competence in working both independently and within a team environment.
Desired experience, skills and qualifications
- An understanding of the international higher education sector, and knowledge of the U.S. Higher Education system.
- Experience working with international, undergraduate and/or firstâyear students, from the U.S.
- Strength in presenting in front of large groups of people.
- Previous personal experience of having studied and/or worked abroad.
