CIEE is offering three-week-long High School Summer Abroad (HSSA) Topic programmes at CIEE Centres around the world for U.S. high school students. Our programmes provide participants with a unique CIEE experience. Participants are immersed in the culture of the host country through 45 hours of instruction related to the topic (both in and out of the classroom) and cultural activities.

CIEE is hiring an instructor to teach an in-person Sports Marketing course for its High School Summer Abroad (HSSA) programme in London this summer. The programme will run in two sessions: the first from June 16th to July 6th, and the second from July 9th to July 29th. This position is specifically for the second session (July 9th–July 29th). Ideal candidates are passionate about experiential education, have strong classroom management skills, and preferably have experience teaching high school students. CIEE will provide training, instructional strategies and guidance on participant expectations.

Primary Responsibilities—Topic Programme Instructor
  • PRE-PROGRAMME: Instructor Training: Complete the online, asynchronous HSSA Topic Programme Instructor Training in Canvas (estimated completion time of 6-8 hours), scheduled to begin in early April. Participate in the HSSA Topic Instructor Live Virtual Workshops (estimated 1-2 hours total), which will be held via Zoom for all Topic Instructors. The US-based CIEE High School Outbound team will send further details via email in March/April. Prepare the on-programme Canvas course.
  • DURING PROGRAMME: Planning and Instruction: Deliver 45+ hours of instruction on the programme and plan for each day’s lesson. Student Assessment and Feedback: Post and collect student responses to “Can Do” statements at the beginning and end of the programme. This is a self-assessment, and instructors do not provide feedback. Provide students with timely, informative feedback on assignments. Types of feedback may include verbal feedback, written feedback, and rubric-based feedback. While students do not receive academic credit for Topic programmes, they may receive an unofficial letter or numerical grade that is an indicator of performance. Monitor students’ completion of the final project on an ongoing basis to ensure that students are working on their projects over the course. Instructors enter student grades and/or feedback in Canvas each week. Programme Quality: Participate as needed in meetings with CIEE Centre staff while the programme is in session to report on any student concerns and ensure learning objectives are met. Collaborate with CIEE Centre staff and Programme Leaders to ensure effective communication and integration of the participants' learning experience.
  • POST-PROGRAMME: Ensure all the grades and/or feedback for students are inputted by the end of the programme. Provide CIEE with constructive feedback on the curriculum and teaching and learning experience via an online survey.
