The role provides key support to the Proposals Manager by generating accurate Global Labour and Standard Build Times to support competitive and profitable quotations for new and existing customers. The position involves interpreting customer data packs, engineering drawings, and build specifications to produce standard labour times using both automated tools and manual estimation for non-standard processes. Working closely with Production Engineering, NPI, Test, Purchasing, and wider Engineering teams, the role ensures labour standards accurately reflect physical build data and evolving processes. The position also contributes to continuous improvement by reviewing existing build times, identifying optimisation and automation opportunities, and supporting quotation accuracy and margin improvement in a fast-paced electronic manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Proposals Manager in Producing Quotations for New and Existing Customers.
  • Understand and interpret customer supplied data packs to enable standard times to be produced (Excel, Word, mechanical drawings, build specifications etc).
  • Book in all RFQs, create PR central folder for each quote and keep relevant departmental records up to date.
  • Generate Standard Time for New and Existing Business, using the Quote Loader Tool for standard processes and a manual time generation for non-standard processes such as integration, concoat and hand solder.
  • Co-ordinate with NPI/Production Engineering and Test Departments to produce Standard Times for New and Existing Customers.
  • Provide completed Standard Times to documentation control for upload to EFAC.
  • Assist Purchasing Bid Team & develop skillset to provide cover for this function.
  • Review ETS build times & monitor processes to ensure standard times reflect physical build data.
  • Explore creative methodology for build & collaborate with wider Engineering team for non-standard build formats to realise margin improvements, for example automation opportunities.

Competency:

The candidate must be proficient in Excel, Word & Valor and must be able to understand engineering drawings and have some knowledge of how to use eDrawings & Bom connector. Production experience with electronic build (highly-desirable) & demonstrable mechanical reasoning.

Qualifications/Skills/Personal Qualities – CORE:

  • A minimum of 5 Grade C+ GCSE’s.
  • Ability to read technical drawings / willingness to learn.
  • The ability to learn new processes and procedures quickly.
  • A willingness to take ownership.

Qualifications/Skills/Personal Qualities – DESIRABLE:

  • The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, be an adaptable and engaging team member but must also be able to work individually when required.
  • Experience in an electronic manufacturing production environment.
  • The candidate must be willing to work with other departments to ensure any new processes are reviewed, timed and added to the Standard Labour Sheet to keep quotations up to date.
