Role
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll take ownership of mechanical building services design projects from concept through to completion, working closely with clients, architects and fellow engineers.
You'll enjoy a varied workload across multiple sectors while taking an active role in client relationships, technical delivery and project leadership.
Your responsibilities will include
- Leading the mechanical design of building services projects.
- Managing project delivery from feasibility through construction.
- Acting as Project Lead on selected commissions.
- Producing and reviewing mechanical calculations, specifications and technical reports.
- Attending design meetings and presenting directly to clients.
- Supporting and mentoring junior engineers.
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary design teams.
- Helping develop long‑term client relationships and generate repeat business.
- Delivering innovative, sustainable engineering solutions across a wide range of projects.
Requirements
We're looking for an ambitious Mechanical Building Services Engineer who enjoys technical design, client interaction and taking ownership of projects.
Ideally you'll have
- Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
- Around 4+ years' experience within a Building Services consultancy.
- Experience designing mechanical systems across a range of building sectors.
- Working knowledge of UK Building Regulations and relevant British Standards.
- Experience using industry‑standard design software including Revit and associated mechanical design packages.
- An understanding of sustainable building design, renewable technologies and low‑carbon solutions.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
- Working towards, or already holding, Chartered Engineer status through CIBSE or IMech E.
