Your Role:

As Principal Electrical Engineer, you will:

  • Lead and deliver electrical building services designs across multiple sectors, ensuring robustness, compliance and innovation.
  • Produce and oversee electrical calculations, reports, specifications, and tender packages.
  • Act as a key contact for clients, project managers, architects and design partners, representing the business with confidence and professionalism.
  • Guide, mentor and develop junior and intermediate engineers, building capability within the electrical discipline.
  • Work closely with mechanical, sustainability, BIM and compliance specialists to deliver coordinated, high‑quality solutions.
  • Champion low‑carbon thinking, energy efficiency and modern engineering approaches across all projects.
  • Take ownership of project delivery, resource planning, design quality and client satisfaction.
  • Play a strategic role in business development, fee proposals, and strengthening the firm's market reputation.
  • Support the future direction of the electrical team as part of the succession pathway toward Associate Director.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a Senior or Principal Electrical Design Engineer within a building services consultancy.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant UK standards, regulations, and industry best practice.
  • Proficiency in design and calculation software such as Amtech/Trimble, AutoCAD, Revit, and lighting simulation tools.
  • A collaborative, people‑focused leader who enjoys mentoring others.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to manage client relationships and steer design reviews.
  • Passion for sustainable design, net‑zero strategies and technical excellence.
  • Degree‑qualified; IEng or CEng (or working towards) is highly advantageous.
