Role
As Mechanical Associate Director, you will lead the delivery of mechanical building services projects from feasibility through to completion across RIBA Stages 1-6.
Working closely with senior management, architects, project managers and multidisciplinary design teams, you will be responsible for both technical delivery and commercial performance while mentoring and developing junior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Leading mechanical design projects from concept through construction.
- Managing project delivery, quality, programme and commercial performance.
- Acting as the primary client contact throughout project lifecycles.
- Producing and reviewing calculations, reports, specifications and technical documentation.
- Overseeing mechanical design production using BIM and CAD workflows.
- Undertaking site inspections, commissioning reviews and technical assessments.
- Supporting sustainability strategies and renewable energy feasibility studies.
- Mentoring and developing engineers within the team.
- Assisting with business development, fee proposals and identifying new opportunities.
- Supporting recruitment and continued growth of the engineering team.
Requirements
You’ll be an experienced Mechanical Building Services Engineer with strong technical capability and leadership experience.
- 10+ years’ experience in Mechanical Building Services Design.
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Membership of CIBSE, IMech E or working towards Chartered status.
- Experience delivering commercial refurbishment, fit-out and mixed-use developments.
- Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and CDM.
- Experience with software such as Auto CAD, Revit, IES VE, Hevacomp, H2X or similar.
- Excellent report writing and client communication skills.
- Commercial awareness with an interest in developing client relationships.
- A proactive leadership style with a passion for mentoring others.
