Role: Work shall generally be in conjunction with a Senior Electrical Engineer or Associate assisting in the survey, design, specification and contract administration process. The aim is to increase the design, construction and practical knowledge of the individual to achieve Senior Engineer status. The work would be a mixture of survey, design work, CAD work, office-based project administration and site attendances generally in conjunction with a Senior Engineer. It is expected that the individual would be able to undertake smaller projects with less Senior Engineer involvement after a period of employment with the company.

  • Utilise Amtech and Dialux software for calculations.
  • Undertake basic calculations on cable sizing, lighting selections etc.
  • Undertake Electrical design work consisting of surveys, design, drawings and specifications for projects.
  • Work in conjunction with other Client design team members as required as part of an overall project team.
  • Ensure the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements.
  • Produce marked up drawings for CAD by others or direct CAD design drawings for issue.
  • Select and specify products, equipment and installation standards relating to Electrical services suitable for the costing and installation by Contractors.
  • Assist Senior Engineers in the preparation of budget costs i.e. obtaining quotations from manufacturers for plant and equipment.
  • Attend project design meetings, technical meetings, Value Engineering Workshops, Risk Workshops etc as required by the project in conjunction with Senior Engineers.
  • Attend site as part of the construction phase activities of projects and participate in site meetings.
  • Assist in the preparation of snagging lists, valuations (if required) and end of defects inspections as required.
  • Utilise a web and phone based Snagging App software called Insite Teams for snagging and defects inspections.
  • Undertake surveys and reports for the company in conjunction with a Senior Engineer including Feasibility studies, and Condition Surveys and generate reports meeting the company report format.
  • Work in conjunction with other staff members on design work as part of an overall project team.
  • Participate in the QA Review process for projects which is undertaken throughout the project design and construction process.
  • Advise Clients and other designers on energy use and conservation in a range of buildings and sites, aiming to minimise the environmental impact and reduce the carbon footprint.
  • Participate in the tender review process with others and assist in providing recommendation reports for the appointment of Contractors.
  • Work attire shall be smart, suitable for business. When attending meetings on construction sites then more casual clothing is acceptable. PPE is provided (hi-vis vest, hard hat, gloves and glasses) and site boots shall be purchased by the individual and reimbursed via expenses.
  • Participate in the Staff Review process which is undertaken on an annual basis.
  • Complete the company timesheets system on a weekly basis to record time worked on specific project tasks.
  • Undertake CPD training to continue your education and training.
  • Participate in the health and review process within the company and adhere to the Health and Safety procedures in place.
